A goal in each half helped Harriers Youth pick up their second MFYL Premier Division win of the season on Wednesday as they saw off Highgate United 2-0 at Aggborough.
The game took some time to get going but the home side finally took the lead three minutes before he half-hour mark; Shane Bennett saw his shot from a right-wing cross bundled clear by the United defence, though the perseverance of Grant Underhill saw him able to finish from close-range with the ball running loose.
Six minutes before the break it could have been two - Jack Moore running through the Highgate midfield before driving a speculative effort towards goal from 20 yards that stopper Grant Biddle held at the second attempt.
Eleven minutes after the interval Highgate went close to drawing level though Kolena Albert Onyonka saw his headed effort deflected superbly by Harriers defender Nathan DeMonte.
The introduction of Redd Savage on 69 minutes was something of a turning point - he immediately set about causing Highgate some problems and within seven minutes of arriving he'd doubled his side's advantage with the game's second goal.
Fantastic work from Matt Holloway saw the ball played up to the by-line and squared to Bennett who, enjoying a luckless night in front of goal, could only scuff his shot straight into the path of Savage who made no mistake by slamming home firmly past the goalkeeper.
Savage and Bennett both had good chances to add a third to Harriers' tally, though the visitors continued to battle to the end and almost got on the score sheet, substitute Chris Tranter's effort only kept out by a good save from the alert Haydn Whitcombe between the sticks.
