BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche has warned Harriers to expect a strong turnout from his Premier League side at Aggborough on Saturday.
The Turf Moor outfit come to Worcestershire for our first and only home Saturday friendly of pre-season.
It’s a busy day for them – they also send a side to our National League North rivals Alfreton Town.
But he’s dismissed any talk that either venue will see a ‘weakened’ venue – making clear that a tough afternoon’s work will be in order for whoever represents his side.
He told the club’s website: “On Saturday we will break the groups up to the two different games and we will be looking for more game time for them. We recognize our first team squad – a few of the younger players will travel with us, but we are looking to get good minutes into the first team players.
“What you always search for is to get minutes into the players – in most sports, you can train for it but the actual event is always the main thing, and that has a slightly different effect on the body and the mind, so you can never quite replace games.
“We just thought this year we would split the groups and try to get as many minutes as we can in one go, rather than 45 each over and over so that more lads can play a game”.
“We got the 45 minutes into them in Dublin, but this weekend we will have a lot more players – as long as it goes well – completing a full 90 minutes.”
Harriers v Burnley is at Aggborough this Saturday, 22 July at 3:00pm.
Admission is pay on the gate at £10 adults, £5 concessions and £1 U16s.
