Ladies win County Cup!

Ladies secure County Cup for second successive season!…

On Sunday, Harriers Ladies secured their second successive Worcestershire FA Women’s County Cup with a victory over Worcester United!

The match, taking place at Pershore Town, saw Harriers get off to a bright start – Amber Lawrence firing just wide inside five minutes before Kirsty Roberts opened the scoring four minutes later; producing a superb first-time finish from the edge of the area.

On 15 minutes, Harriers’ lead was doubled when Amy Plimmer cut inside and finished with her left from a tight angle.

Roberts and Sophie Richards both had chances to add a third with headers soon afterwards, but both efforts went wide.

The woodwork was also struck by Roberts before the half-hour mark, improvising to dig out a shot from the edge of the area on the half-volley.

An impressive first 30 minutes was capped by a 25 yard strike by Lawrence – powerful and accurate, it flew into the net.

However, Worcester United would end the first half on top – pulling a goal back on 41 minutes with a firm shot from the edge of the area, and had two additional significant chances to add further goals before the interval.

Harriers started the second half sharply, though, when a corner was diverted goal wards by Alex Nicklin on 47 minutes – Molly Maguire applying the final touch to see the ball over the line.

As the game progressed, Harriers looked for a fifth goal but it wouldn’t arrive – Nicklin with the biggest of the second half chances after 66 minutes, but fired just wide from close range.

The scoreline would stay the same upon the final whistle arriving, sparking great celebrations as Harriers secured the trophy for the second season running!

The opportunities for silverware doesn’t end there – the Ladies face Sedgley and Gornal United in the final of the League Cup on 5th May at Stone Dominoes, a 1pm kick off.
